While the overall number of international arrivals saw a slight decline of 0.6% compared to the same period in 2024, April alone recorded a strong 8% year-on-year increase, with 3.9 million foreign visitors.
Istanbul, the country’s cultural and economic hub, retained its status as Turkey’s top tourism destination, welcoming 50.4% of all foreign travellers—approximately 5.34 million people in the first four months.
Following Istanbul, the Mediterranean resort city of Antalya and the northwestern border province of Edirne—which neighbours Bulgaria and Greece—ranked among the most visited destinations.
In terms of visitor nationalities, Germany led the way with a 10.8% share of all foreign tourists, followed by Russia and Iran.
These figures reflect both Turkey's enduring global appeal and the country’s resilience as a premier year-round travel destination.
